On Efe’s last release, “scammer” the rapper flowed on a much lighter mood imbued in comical lyrics and cadence, nothing too serious. But on this new track, titled “Campaign” he speaks from his heart instead and raps like a wounded lion. Efe opens the first verse on the account of his life as a star and all the pressure that comes with it. He wonders if he can ever get used to it completely. He then raps about days of constantly being overlooked and downgraded.
Efe also reminisces about developing a drinking habit to mask his troubles before he finally snapped out of that phase upon the realization that there was more to live for. BOJ delivers that high-quality chorus like he normally does on the WXLA-produced beat. Ice Prince as well as recounts the days he was struggling before he finally had his breakthrough.
Overall this is a more solid single from Efe, compared to his last track, Scammer. If you are going to make a track narrating your struggles I doubt you can get it wrong with a guy like BOJ helping out with the chorus. The production deserves applause too, credit to WXLA.
